Humidity, particle size and dust affect processing and workplace safety.
Powder flow through mixers, conveyors and hoppers depends on particle size, density and cohesion. Humidity can cause caking, fill-weight variation and poor dissolution. Dust may arise during transfer and packing; ingredient-specific hazards cannot be judged by appearance. Review safety sheets, exposure assessment, containment and ventilation.
Monitor apparent density, flow and caking after storage along with filling accuracy and room conditions. Test dissolution and actual wash performance separately from packing efficiency. If weights drift, investigate powder moisture and flow before assuming the filler requires permanent adjustment.
If powder pack weights drift despite unchanged machine settings, investigate moisture, caking, bulk density and hopper flow. Compare samples from early and late production for changes in granule distribution. Review ingredient-specific dust exposure and containment controls. Simply adjusting the filler may conceal a problem with storage or raw-material properties, so diagnosis should precede equipment changes or reformulation.
Control storage, ventilation and dust.
Verify powder flow through transfer and filling.
Apply ingredient-specific risk assessment.
